Recovering from addiction

Do you think that you may have an addiction?

An addiction occurs when we become dependent of an external activity, object or substance that disrupts our life and frequently destroys our relationships. We become addicts when we cannot control the way we gamble, use drugs or alcohol, have sex, use the internet, watch pornography or eat etc…Being addicted to something means that not having it caused withdrawals symptoms.

In our society, addictions are strongly attached to feelings of shame which makes it difficult for a person to seek help. Fortunately, substance addictions treatments are available and combined with talking therapies can significantly help people remain abstinent.

Therapy will offer you a non-judgemental space to explore what is happening to you. More importantly, therapy will help you build the confidence and emotional strength you need to choose and hope for a different life. Please note that to engage in therapy, you need to be abstinent or sober 48 hours before a session.
